Festivals Carnival Parade

For the third year running, L.A.C.A.E. is working together in partnership with the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival in order to bring you the world of Latin-America in the colourful and musical Festivals Parade, as part of this summer’s Carnival!

After our parade, lively dancers from Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Colombia will perform on the stage to the west of the fountain, under the castle. There’ll be still more exciting Latin-American music and dance to catch at the Ross Bandstand across the afternoon.

This year’s theme for eye-catching costume design is “birds”—los pajaros—and you’ll see them in the first parade of the day at 12 noon. The festive parade starts by the Gardener’s cottage at the eastern end of West Princes Street Gardens, each country pausing to perform a brief dance introduction passing the Ross Bandstand, and it all finishes up on reaching the turquoise and gold fountain towards the western end of the gardens.
