Our first Workshop was held under the banner of ‘The Latin Cook Club’.
The first Latin Cook Club class took place under the auspices of Cyrenians, the charity devoted to supporting people excluded from family, home, work or community on their life journey. The subject was “An Introduction to Peruvian Cooking“, and six students were taught how to prepare a menu of traditional dishes that teacher Mercedes originally learned in the family home in Cusco, Peru. After cooking their dishes, students and teacher enjoyed the fruits of their labour, lunching together over a conversation about the history and background of Peruvian cuisine.

This occurred in Leith on Saturday, 28 September, and we hope to present more opportunities to learn about some practical aspects of Latin American food in the not too distant future—watch this space! In the meantime, we would encourage you to learn more about the vital work that the charity does at Cyrenians’ own website.
